To all at Profco
First of all, thank you very much for all your help. I am settling well in Australia. I am working in the neuro surgery unit of St George Hospital which is an 1000-bedded hospital. We get 5 patients to nurse. It is good for me because I feel very comfortable with my job. You can give attention to all patients, and take care of them very well. My workmates are friendly and helpful, which is very important. I am happy that I am working in a good atmosphere. I was travelling on my own, so I was bit nervous. But when I reached the airport, Lynn from Professional Connections was there to recieve me, so I was relaxed. The hospital has given me 12 weeks accommodation, which was very helpful to me. I could settle down well . The climate is fabulous, you just feel like going out and enjoy the good weather . I am just thinking of settling here because I am enjoying every bit of it. What can I say more? I think I am so lucky to be here. Thank you very much for all your help during the process, which made everything easy. I would like to invite all my friends to come and work in Australia. It's the best place to live. Thank you, bye for now. I will write more in next mail.

Bindu

Hi Everyone,
I am really proud to be writing about my experience from the moment I read about Professional Connections to the stage I started my job in a famous hospital in Sydney. The help and assistance I received helped me to do well in the interview, registration process and to get the actual job in the right place that I wish for. All the staff were very supportive and understanding to us and were very helpful and provided all the needed assistance to do everything to get me a job in Australia, also including the Meet & Greet service. I am happy to recommend anyone to Professional Connections.

Hi Celia,
How are you? I am fine with my family here. Thank you very much for all your help and concerns towards my travel to Australia. I am really lucky to get an agent like PROFCO and recruitment co-ordinator like you. You supported me during my last hours of life in UK with smoothening telephone calls. I really appreciate your concerns about my travel to Australia. You took the effort to call my Case Officer, Toby Taylor and Lyn for my safe arrival to Australia.
For all your hard work a” BIG THANKS “to you.
When I arrived Sydney airport warm welcome given by Lyn. A big deep breath came out after seeing Lyn. She dropped me in Cambridge Lodge which was booked for me. I met Toby Taylor on 16^th of July and started my Orientation on the same day.
I am very happy in my ward setup. My ward NUM (Nurse Unit Manager) and the other colleagues are very helpful. Patient/ Nurse Ratio is lower than in the UK (5-6) patients per nurse.Overall Australia’s weather is great. Summer started with 29- 34 degree Celsius. Salary is attractive, preference given to the experience. Overall I am happy and enjoying my nursing carrier.
My children started school and they enjoy their studies.
Once again I take this opportunity to convey my Thanks to you and PROFCO.
With Kind regards,
Aptha

To all at Profco
I am so glad to hear from you. We all are fine here by the Grace of God. First of all, I apologise for the late information. I started my orientation and supernumerary duties on 17-03-2008 in acute surgical ward. Griffith Base Hospital is a 107-bedded hospital under Greater Southern Area Health in New South Wales and it is a district referral hospital, with medical, surgical, obs & gynae, maternity, O.T, paediatrics, ICU, A&E and OPD. Wagga Wagga Hospital is our regional referral hospital. ICU is a 6-bedded unit, acute ward is a 26-bedded ward. I am working in acute ward, our staff ratio is 6:1 Staff comprises of one shift in-charge and 4 RNs.80% of the nurses here are Australians, 15% are New Zelanders and the other 5% are multinationals. According to my point of view that most of the Australian nurses are hard working and co-operative. My unit manager, one of the staff nurse from the same unit and accommodation in-charge, they all came to receive me in the railway station. The hospital provided me a fully furnished house for 3 months. I take this opportunity to thank you all for the assistance which you have given to me. Thank you very much.

We reached here on the 12th of December 2007 via Kuala Lumpur, and we stayed in a hotel for the night. After getting the NMB registration in Sydney , we left for Dubbo which was 500km away, through train . It was like Kerala, in India, put into UK weather for about 200km. Then it became the same as in the Gulf , where there is a lot of grass and just trees. We had to travel in a coach since there was railway works around. There were two hospital mangers who were there to welcome us and show us the city. The people over here are really friendly and very helpful to us . The roads are really wide and there is lot of sunshine around here. There is a place for children to play around and it is very bright and sunny over here. The weather is like Kerala but there is less humidity. The hospital is near.
The house (temporary accommodation) which we got was fully furnished with TV, DVD player, washing machine, stove, bathroom with towels and even with food for the evening and the next morning. I went to duty on the 17th. The duty is not as hard as in the UK and there are only 4 to 6 patients to look after, depend upon their conditions. They provided a person from the Human Resources Separtment to take care about the children’s admission, our medicare and virtually any problem we have. We went to the church and it also looks very good. We thought that we are the only Malayalees in the area, but there is a Kanjirapallei person here and he is well settled here. This was the greatest relief since we got someone to talk to other than Reji and family.
All 3 children got admission in the same school, the elder two got in the same year as they were in the UK but the youngest one got one year behind. Last week we purchased a 4-bedroom house. We will get broadband in a couple of weeks. We are using internet in the library, it is free but we couldn’t provide our proof of address yet, so there goes $5 in the air. Since it is the country side and there are only two broadband providers, it takes time to get the connection.
With love and thanks,

"Just a quick line to let you know how everything is going for me in Australia. It has been three months since I commenced work at the Nepean Hosp NSW, I have been promised a rotational post and am now on the postnatal ward with a possible move to the delivery suite in the New Year. The staff here have been very friendly and I have been made very welcome. I would just like to thank you for this opportunity I have been given by Profco, I feel I have found a good team to work with and I am very grateful to the people who made it possible for me, I hope you are well?? Keep up the good work that you do!
Many Thanks"
Joanne
