Perth

Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. With a population of 1,554,769 (2007), Perth ranks fourth amongst the nation’s cities, with a growth rate consistently above the national average.

Perth is one of the most metropolitan areas in Australia. Perth’s population is made up of a high proportion of the British-born residents, Europeans and residents from South East Asia. Geographically, Perth is also closer to Asia. It will greatly reduce your flight time if you are going home for holiday and if you would like to spend your holiday travelling in Asia.

The climate in Perth is similar to the one in the Mediterranean. It receives moderate though highly seasonal rainfall. Summers are generally hot and dry, lasting from late December to late March, with February generally being the hottest month of the year, Winters are relatively cool and rather moist.

The economy of Perth is blooming and providing job opportunities in various businesses, tourism and retail services. The unemployment rate is at a consistent level of less than 4%.

There are four good public universities in Perth, the University of Western Australia, Murdoch University, Curtin University of Technology and Edith Cowan University. University of Notre Dame is one independent private hospital.
