The test has two formats: Academic and General Training. Academic is the requirement for the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Board. The test consists of 4 parts: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
The total test time is 3 hours. Allowing for breaks and the Speaking test timetable, you should expect to attend for 5 hours altogether. All parts are done on the same day except in Stockholm where the Speaking part is held the day before. Results are published within 2 weeks. If you fail the test, you have to wait 3 months to repeat it.
You are awarded a score on a 9-point scale, a grade that is valid for two years. Acceptable result for the New South Wales Nurses and Midwives Board: a minimum of 6.5 on each of the four components and a minimum overall score of 7.
The Academic test is difficult so it we recommend candidates to order a sample pack to practice on.
The price of the test is SEK 1,800 (2008). Check the current price when you contact Folkuniversitetet.
IELTS is not required for registration in the UK/Ireland (of EU passport holders). Professional Connections recruit nurses and midwives for hospitals in Great Britain and Ireland.
