For more comprehensive information about the IELTS exam, you can visit the official web site at www.ielts.org

The test has two formats: Academic and General Training. The New South Wales Nurses Registration Board requires the Academic format.

The test consists of 4 parts: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The total test time is 3 hours. Allowing for breaks and the Speaking test timetable, you should expect to attend for 5 hours altogether. All parts are done on the same day. Results are published within 2 weeks. If you fail the test, you cannot repeat it within 3 months. Therefore it is wise to practice and be well-prepared for the test!

You are awarded a score on a 9-point scale, a grade that is valid for two years. You do not get a certificate. Acceptable result for the New South Wales Nurses Registration Board: a minimum of 6.5 on each of the four components and an overall score of 7.0 or more.

IELTS is not required for registration in the UK/Ireland (for EU passport holders). If you are interested in working in the UK/Ireland please contact Professional Connections / ICE group.
