The Tweed Hospital
The Tweed Hospital is located in the City of Tweed Heads, part of the North Coast Area Health Service and is the most northerly hospital in New South Wales and metres away from Coolangatta on the Queensland border. Catchment's Population resides in the Southern Gold Coast and Tweed Valley, with population projections of 200,000 by 2011.
The Tweed Hospital is the major acute care provider and referral facility with 200 beds and various specialties including emergency (39 000 presentations), critical care, internal medicine, surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics, mental health and clinical support services. 17,000 Admissions and 4,500 Surgical Operations per annum. There is a 24 hour Emergency Department, open 7 days a week.
The hospital has a Teaching Unit and links to Sydney, Griffith, Bond and Charles Stuart Universities, and is committed to providing the best possible health care outcome for the catchment community. The Hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and continually seeks opportunities to improve services and patient outcomes.
